Assassin's Greed IV: Black Flag announced

I'm always interested in the franchise, but I never really enjoyed the game.  The story is too bizarre with a man rediscovering his ancestors with a machine.  I don't see how it's interesting that the game took place in a virtual memory, and the main character is simulating it.  I'm a story guy, and they story just don't sell to me.  However, when I heard that  Assassin's Creed 3 takes place during American Revolutionary War and that's such an interesting time, I always wanted to pick up the game but never had a chance.

Now I have more chances to get the game!  Assassin's Creed IV got announced and this time it is going to take place during pirate time, and as an One Piece fan, that's better than the American Revolutionary War.  The main character is rumored to be Edward Kenway, and he's going to be grandfather of Assassin's Creed's 3's Connor.

Also, the box arts are shown as well:

As you can see, the PS 3 version comes with 60 minutes of "exclusive" gameplay.  Lucky I got a PS 3, huh?    What the excessive gameplay is unknown of now, but I'm pretty sure both XBox and Wii U players will be then content later as DLC.   There're going to more news about the game on March 4th, so I will blog about it when time comes.

Beyond: Two Souls Release Date Aoonunced

Sony announced that Beyond: Two Souls will be released on October 8th.  Also, actor Willem Dafoe will star in the game as Nathan Dawkin, a government scientist who's interested in Jodie and her supernatural behaviors.

Here's a trailer with Dawkin:

I'm glad that the game is coming out in October.  For a moment there, I thought the game is not coming out until PS 4.  It's good that I don't need a reason to get PS 4 until a better bundle deal is out later.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 confirmed for U.S.!!!!

Update 3-01-2013: The newest trailer for the game is out today!

This video confirms that all the previous playable characters such as Whitebeard, Ace, Hancock and Jinbe are all going to be playable again.  It also seems like Buggy the Clown, Mihawk and Crocodile are going to playable as well.  I kind of lost count of how many characters there are now, but it's safe to say that there's easily about 30 playable characters.  This totally puts the first game to shame, and we should agree to called that game a "beta" now.

The trailer also shows the game mode where all the Straw Hats are controlled by a mysterious dial.  Enjoy.

Update 2-19-2013: It was announced that all three Admirals and Garp are going to be playable characters as well!

This put the total confirmed playable character to 18!  It also reveals some of the new characters attacks:

There's also going to be an extra mode in the game where the Straw Hats Pirates are controlled by a mysterious Dial.  To rescue his crew members, Luffy has to team-up with some past enemies.

***

Update 2-05-2013: The newest image for the game reveals that both Trafalgar Law and Smoker are going to be playable characters in the game as well.

This game really is a lot better than the previous game already.  I still remember how disappointed I was when I found out that the only playable characters are the  Straw Hat Crew plus Ace, Whitebeard, Jinbe and Hancock only.

***

Update 1-31-2013: A new trailer for the game just got released in Japan.

A lot of information is revealed.  All the Straw Hats have new attacks, Chopper uses Monster Point, Robin uses her cone technique, Franky uses General Franky (and Franky nipple lights) and Usopp uses Pop Green.  I'm really looking forward to this game now.

The trailer also shows that Hancock, Magellan, and Mihawk are going to be in the game as well.  Jinbe is going to be in the game as well, but in his two years later outfit.  Hopefully everyone in the previous game will be in this game, and as playable characters.

Update 1-25-2013: It just confirmed that Gekko Moriah and Perona (2 years later ver.) are both going to make appearances in this game.
It is also confirmed that Perona is going to be a playable character, but Moriah is just going to be a boss so far.
There's also an image showing General Franky, and all different types of Haki plays in the game.  This is going to be epic.

Namco Bandai announces that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 is coming to U.S. this summer!
Late last year, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 was announced for Japan for March 2013 for PS3 and PS Vita.  Now it's really exciting that American One Piece fans are going to get this sequel too.  However, it is unknown that if the game is going to be a digital download only, or the game is going to get the Vita counterpart as well.
For the sequel, Namco Bandai confirms that both Enel and Bartholomew Kuma are going to be playable characters alongside the nine Straw Hat Pirates.  Also, both Kuzan (Aokiji) and Blackbeard is on the game box, so they're most likely going to make an appearance as well.

I'm getting a Japanese physical copy no matter what.  And I will also get US version physically or digitally.  That's how much I love One Piece.
At the end, here's the announcement trailer.  Enjoy.

New Eeveelution Revealed!

Update 2-15-2013: It is revealed yesterday that the English name for Ninfia will be Sylveon.  Can someone break down the roots of the name for me?

***

CoroCoro Magazine just revealed the newest Eeveelution for Pokemon X&Y to be Ninfia.  As of now, it's unknown what type this Pokemon is, and the method of evolution.  Fans online are guessing that it might be a Bug type due to the ribbon looks like a butterfly.  Also, a Flying type due to its design similar to Skyla, the Flying-type Gym leader from Pokemon Black and White.  Or it can be a brand-new type that's going to introduce in the newest generation.

Let me know what you think about this newest Eveelution!

Sleeping Dogs DLC- Monkey King Pack Review

Sleeping Dogs released their newest DLC- The Monkey King Pack earlier this week.  For those of you who don't know who the Monkey King is, he's Sun Wukong from the classic Chinese literature Journey to the West.  The influential literature and characters are also the original roots for the Dragon Ball series.  I am a big fan of Journey to the West, so when I found out there's a DLC based on the literature I downloaded it right way.  And when I play the DLC, I was disappointed immediately.

The DLC's gimmicks are Sun Wukong's costume, a ride based on his cloud- Somersault Cloud, a staff and improved melee skills.  While all these sounds awesome, but the actual execution is depressing.  I enter the game and check my apartment right away to put the the Monkey King outfit.  The outfit is satisfying as it really makes me look like the Monkey King, and increases my melee skills like it promised.  Then I spend the longest time looking for the staff.  Sun Wukong is famous for his extant-able staff, and it is one of the reasons I bought the DLC.  After digging through my apartment and turns up nothing, I decide to go to my other apartment to check it out, hoping that's the reason.  I decided to ride the Somersault Cloud bike to my other apartment only to find a piece of crap bike with clouds around it when I'm riding it.  The bike is not any faster, or anything special ability. It really just a skin for the bike. After I arrive the other apartments, I still can't find the staff, so I go online to find information of where the staff is. Nothing turns up again. Just when I'm about to rule this as a game glitch, I see my guy hitting someone with the staff! So it turns out that the staff only appears when you're in battle, and only when you're wearing the Monkey King outfit. This is the point where I turn off the game, and come to an understanding that I just wasted my money on this.

I'm not saying this is not a good DLC, I'm just saying that this is not the DLC I'm looking for. Square Enix also announces that they're releasing a story DLC called "The Year of Snake" sometime this month. Let's hope that DLC will be better than this one.

My Score: 5/10

EA confirms Madden NFL 14's Name

Following yesterday's post, EA today confirms that the new Madden game is officially going to be called "Madden NFL 25" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise.  It seems like the naming is going to be confusing starting next year for the franchise.

Also, fans will be able to vote for their cover on ESPN website starting March 11th.  I am a Giants fan so hopefully Giant's player made it to the cover- mainly Eli Manning.

Again, the game will be release on August 27th.

Grand Theft Auto V, Madden 14 Get Release Date

Rockstar has announced that Grand Theft Auto V is going to be on Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 17th. The game was originally announced for a Spring release, but Rockstar delays the release date so they can polish the game even more.  Meanwhile...

EA also announced that the next Madden game is coming in August 27th.  This will also be the 25 year anniversary of the franchise.  There's also a possibility that the franchise is going to breaking the year based cycle and be call something else.  More on that later.

Many, many Wii U News: Super Smash, Zelda, Mario, and more

This morning Nintendo Direct releases tons of news on the upcoming games for Wii U.  Not only they let us know what games we should be expecting for this year, we also learn what's coming for this year's E3 conference.  Here is what to expect:

A new Zelda game!

The game, according to Nintendo, is going to be focusing on the HD aspect of the device, but with a new visual approach- we have no idea what that meant at this point.  While the game play is going to be be simpler, as returning to its roots.  As of now, we don't have many details of the game, and Nintendo is not ready to show us the game yet until E3.
As of now, we have no idea what the game is about.  And it seems like we have a long way to go.

Zelda: Wind Waker  HD remake!

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, a game originally on Gamecube, is coming to Wii U this fall.  Nintendo states that this game is here to ease the players on the wait for the new Zelda game.  The remake will have a brand new, upgraded graphics, optional to play only on GamePad, and Miiverse integration.
The image up there shows the differences between Wii U graphic and GameCube graphic.  This is going to be an awesome upgrade.

New Smash Bros game, New 3D Mario game, and Wii U Mario Kart!
All three games mentioned above are going to have more news in the E3 conference this June.  I really can't wait for Smash Bros, and Nintendo promises to have the first look in E3.  As of now, they state that both Wii U and 3DS versions are on track.
A new 3D Mario game is coming to Wii U.  They say the game is an "action" game, and as of now no one knows what that means.
Last but not least, A new Mario Kart game is also announced for Wii U.  This is not a surprise to me at all because Nintendo always release a Mario Kart game for all of their systems.
And once again, no further information at this point.  Can't wait for E3 to come.

Fire Emblem crosses-over with Shin Megami Tensei!
A Wii U game that crosses both franchises!!!  The trailer above doesn't show much but it's exciting enough to see characters such as Marth from the first Fire Emblem game.

Virtual Consoles coming to Wii U!
I'm really not surprised at this one at all.

I'm disappointed that Nintendo Direct doesn't have more news on Pikman 3.  Maybe more in the future.

The Last Of Us Special Edition Revealed!

The above is the Survival Edition and it comes with the Sights and Sounds Pack as well as the full-size hardcover art book, steel-book packaging for the game and the first issue of The Last of Us American Dreams and Naughty Dog sticker sheet.  It will be retail for $79.99.

This one would be the Post-Pandemic Edition.  It comes with everything the Survival Edition comes with along with a 12-inch premium statue of Joel and Ellie.  This will retail for 159.99 and only available at GameStop.

The game is set to release at May 7th.  Personally, I'm planning on getting the game only without any special bonuses.
